Welcome to Calcot Services for Children

A time to heal.

Established since 1989

Calcot Services for Children Ltd comprises five therapeutic communities in Berkshire with close links to psychiatric and psychotherapeutic services. Our five communities are Calcot Cottage (incorporating Yew Tree Cottage), The Dingles, Pondview and Joleen House. We also have a 16+ service for young people aged 16 and over who are able to live in independent accommodation with support.

Calcot CottageThe DinglesPondview and Joleen House are directly set up to enable the most vulnerable children and young people to achieve positive outcomes within their own abilities. The aim is to provide stable, long term placements, with the view to having young people achieve permanency within a family wherever possible. A whole range of methods are involved in this process including group work, direct work, life story work, comprehensive activity plans and behaviour work. We have an in house Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist who is able to provide weekly therapy sessions for young people who require them.

Our Psychotherapist also works closely with our staff teams and supports our staff to carry out therapeutic work with our young people and gain a greater understanding of the work we carry out with young people.

Yew Tree Cottage is directly set up to offer young people the opportunity to learn skills that will equip them to live successfully in the community and Yew Tree Cottage is able to take referrals independently of our other communities. Young people who are living within our other communities, who are reaching the age of Independence will often move on to Yew Tree Cottage to prepare them for leaving care and more independent accommodation.

Our 16+ Supported Living Service provides accommodation for young people who are ready to take the next step onto independence with bespoke and tailor built packages of support, provided by our team of Project Workers.

All communities are committed to supporting children and young people to be healthy, to stay safe, to enjoy and achieve, to make a positive contribution and, as they grow older, to be able to achieve economic well-being; the five goals set out by Every Child Matters. We work within the ethos of providing warm, containing, family style homes which are jargon free.

"Young People benefit enormously from living in a highly supportive, stimulating and very nurturing environment."
